King Ecgbert School Secures Prestigious Funding for Design and Technology
We are very excited and proud to announce that King Ecgbert School has been successful in winning a bid for funding from the Wolfson Foundation!
The school has been awarded £36,300 towards the cost of specialist equipment for Design and Technology.
The Wolfson Foundation funding will enable us to further improve our offer in Design and Technology at King Ecgbert School and across the Trust to prepare our students to be the change-makers that will be needed in years to come to solve real world challenges such as climate change.
The funding will pay for a plastics recycling system that will enable us to shred waste plastics and manufacture sheets to make products from. Three new 3D printers will allow students to create products directly from their 3D designs in a range of materials. A metal water jet cutter so that we can manufacture products from various sheet metals.
The school will be offering A Level Design and Technology from September 2024 and this equipment will transform the experience of the students, enabling them to design and manufacture complex products and build the digital skills and knowledge required in a modern workplace.
We look forward to sharing our journey with the new equipment over the next few months.
